Introduction to COSSS
The City of Sheffield Swim Squad is the competitive outlet for the Sheffield City Council Swim Training Scheme. We have fantastic support from the council, who not only provide us with top level and fully qualified coaches, but also provide a comprehensive swimming pathway via the Swimming Development team. This includes links with the city’s schools and private swimming lessons, organising development galas, and also helps us maintain a healthy relationship with the other Sheffield clubs.
We work closely with Sheffield International Venues (Ponds Forge) who supply us with the world class training facilities that we enjoy, and via the ASA Swim21 pathway, we also have good links with the local clubs in the South Yorkshire area. As a partnership, we are totally committed to providing the best possible competitive swimming programme in the area, from juniors right through to International level swimmers.
COSSS is totally run by volunteers, who organise all of the galas and trips that our swimmers compete in, including the administrative tasks involved. In order to do this, we raise a lot of money via our 4 home galas per year, and also through generous support from our sponsor Wilkinsons and Barker Collins Engineering. We operate on a framework of a recognised constitution, the requirements of which state that an elected committee manages the finances and club activites, in collaboration with its partners.
