This year’s Open Water National Championships were once again held at Rother Valley. Held over two days CoSSS missed out by only one point to retain the Club of the Year Award, coming second to Northampton. However the five competing City of Sheffield swimmers put on a valiant effort winning 3 Bronze medals. Well done swimmers! A well done must also go to all the CoSSS supporters that, as usual, turned out in force. Supporters you were brilliant!
Today the Youth swimmers took to the water. Nick Grainger (16) narrowly missed out on a medal in the 1750m Boys 15/16 years age group in 20.05.36, finishing 4th in his first time doing an Open Water swim. Gabrielle Hignett (16) swam a fantastic race to finish in Bronze position in the 2000m Girls 16-18 years age group in 24.10.40 in a very close fought race. Also swimming today was Adam Peel (15) in the 1750 Boys 15/16 years age group.
The Age Group swimmers turn today. With two swimmers competing it was super to come away with two Bronze medals. Sam Budd (12) finished in 21.20.04 and Antonia Heseltine (13) in 20.04.94 both came 3rd in their age groups – well done a brilliant way to end the Age Group campaign!
