City of Sheffield Swim Squad

All squads competed in the event with lots of Teaspoon winners and finalists.

A large group of our Junior swimmers travelled to Leeds on September 12th 2009 to take part in the White Rose League.

Max Partridge came home with a Bronze medal from this prestige international meet.

A tremendous 6 days of swimming saw a huge number of medals, finalists and several age group records from COSSS swimmers, and the club finished third overall in the points table!

Superb performances from all involved see COSSS finish second in the points table to Plymouth Leander with Matthew Johnson achieving the fantastic feat of winning 10 Gold Medals and setting 7 Age Group Records!

Another successful meet for COSSS as we collected the top club award.

A tremendous end of season performance from AGN, JO1 and JO2 at the Rotherham Level 3 Short Course held over the weekend of July 18th and 19th.

Ellie Faulkner and Braxston Timm deliver some fantastic swims at the European Junior Championships with Ellie coming home with a Gold Medal and European record!

Following on from her win in the French Cup Aynsley Heseltine wins the Midlands Open Water Championships.

Aynsley Heseltine has won the Womens 5K Open Water French Cup in Creil, France. Well done to Aynsley!

Ellie Faulkner became European Junior Open Water Champion, winning the event held in Porec on July 4th. A fantastic achievement, well done Ellie!

At the recent British Gas World Championship Trials in Glasgow Becky Turner became the fastest 200m Freestyle female swimmer of all time in Yorkshire. Fantastic!

Fantastic results from the NER BAGCAT Championships!

Thanks to a tremendous swim in Eilat in Israel Ellie Faulkner has qualified to represent GB at the European Junior Open Water Championships.

A big thanks to all who took part in a sponsored swim that raised more than £1000 to purchase a new wheelchair for disabled swimmer Zoe Cain.

A great weekend of swimming was crowned by some excellent swimming including two British Age Group Records by Matthew Johnson.

J01 and Age Group National Squads competed and came home with lots of medals.

Many of our Junior swimmers competed in the Sheffield and District Championships on February 1st. Lots of medals came our way, click on the link to see a full report.

A fantastic performance by all our swimmers ensured that COSSS retained the Yorkshire Bank Trophy by a big margin.

After several years absence COSSS returned to the BML on February 8th at Rossington and scored a resounding victory.

Two medals for Zoe Cain at the Disability Sport Events National Short Course Swimming Championships.

A successful weekend over November 1st/2nd saw Andrew Shepherd and the Womens 4 x 100 Medley team win Gold Medals.

Rebecca Turner has been selected to swim for Great Britain at the Fina World Cup. Congratulations from everyone at the club!

The club is very pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Lappin to the position of Assistant Head Coach.

COSSS had four swimmers in the Yorkshire team; Rebecca Turner, Braxston Timm, Alice Cordwell and Tegan Turner-Clarke. In a very tight competition Yorkshire finished fourth in Division 1 with arch rivals Lancashire winning again.

Ellie Faulkner wins a silver and a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games held in India.

Junior and Senior National Squads had a successful meet at the John Charles Centre in Leeds.

COSSS had two Yorkshire Champions at the Winter meet held at Ponds Forge.

A total of 25 Gold Medals and Top Boy award for George Rix added up to a highly successful weekend for JO1 at the Rotherham Metro A/B Grade Meet.

Sheffield's Ponds Forge will host the Cheesestrings ASA National Age Group Champions and the ASA National Youth and Long Course Championships during late July and August. City of Sheffield competes with its largest ever squad and the hope of a hatful of medals.

Zoe Clayton had a busy DSE Junior Championships at Ponds Forge over the weekend of March 4th and 5th and cam away with 3 silver and 4 bronze individual medals.

Andy Shepherd and James Crisp were in action in the backstroke at the British University Championships over the weekend of February 10th to 12th.

The club is sad to announce the retirement of Arthur Downing, one of the club's most successful swimmers.

Max Partridge competed for Great Britain in the FINA Swimming World Cup in Stockholm and Berlin.

This meet produced some excellent performances for an early season meet, coming as it does towards the end of a block of intensive training.

Debbie Hall and James Kirton competed at the European Short Course Championships in Trieste, representing Great Britain. Both swimmers competed in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke with Debbie also getting a swim in the Womens Medley Relay Team.
