Darcy Deakin (14) made a GB team for the first time when selected to compete in the European Youth Olympic Festival between 14-17 July in Utrecht, Holland. The Festival comprised 13/14 year old girls and 16/17 year old boys from 53 different nations competing in 9 different sports. Darcy swam legs in 4 relay teams and won medals in mixed 4X100 free relay (silver) and girls' 4X100 free relay (bronze) and finished 4th in the mixed 4X100 medley relay, many in PB times. The impressive performance of the swimming team made a significant contribution to the whole team finishing 2nd in the medal table.

  

Matt Johnson (18) continued a series of outstanding GB performances when he competed as part of a talented young team at the European Junior  hampionships in Poznan, Poland between the 10-14 July. He a gold medal in the 200 fly and also won silver medals in both the 400 IM and 400 free.

 

Becky Turner travelled to the World Student Games in Kazan and Russia which took place between 6-17 July, at which some the world’s top swimmers were competing. She competed in the 100, 200 and 400 free. After swimming heats and semi-finals, she finished 7th and 5th in the 100 and 200 free respectively.
