The 29th Summer Universiade took place in Taipei in Taiwan between the 20 and 27th of August. The GB team was selected on the basis of their performance at the British Championships in April. Joe Litchfield had a fantastic meet in Taipei, winning a bronze in the 200 IM and clocking a PB of 1.59.36 in the final, which is also a Commonwealth Games qualification time. He also competed in the 100 fly and 400 IM. Go to our Facebook page to see pictures of Joe with his bronze medal! Izzy Grant also swam well to finish 7th in the final of the 200 fly, clocking 2.12.72. Izzy also competed in the 100 fly.
The 6th FINA World Junior Championships were held in Indianapolis in the US between 23rd and 28th August. Amy Bell continued her impressive rise in performance finishing 5th in the final of the 200 breaststroke in a big PB of 2.28.40 and also swam a PB in the final of the 200 IM, finishing 7th in 2.15.24. She also competed in the 400 IM.
Elliot Clogg had a busy meet, competing in four individual races. He finished 7th in the 200 free in a PB of 1.49.02 and 8th in the final of the 200 back and just missed out on the final of the 100 free, clocking a PB of 50.02. He also competed in the 50 free.
Last but not least, Cameron Brooks-Clarke competed in the 100 and 50 fly and equipped himself well first GB team representation.
