Ponds Forge, the home of COSSS
We are South Yorkshire’s premier competitive swimming club and train at the prestigious Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield, which accommodates both 25m and 50m training facilities. Within our squads we have International swimmers, National Age/Youth winners and finalists, and we compete at County, District and National levels, including various open meets through-out the year. We are a British Swimming select club and are regularly ranked in the top 10 clubs in Great Britain. Our aim is to place swimmers on the podium at all domestic and International level meets.

Braxston Selected as GB Team Captain
Braxston Timm and Tom Sunter are at the European Junior Championships in Helsinki, with Braxston getting the added honour of being selected Team Captain.

COSSS Swimmers hand over a cheque for more than £2000, earned as a result of a sponsored swim, to Weston Park Cancer Charity.
May 15th and 16th saw swimmers from JO1 and JO2 travel to Wear Valley, and Kate Clifton led the way as our swimmers produced some excellent performance.

Mike Taylor has won a prestigious award for his work with Sheffield Hallam University Swim Team.
Age Group National and JO1 swimmers made the trip to Leeds for the Sports Aid Gala, many medals were won with some great performances.
Sunderland was the venue for the NER Senior/Youth Championships over the weekend of May 1st and 2nd. Based on the results all of the COSSS relay teams should qualify for the National Youth Championships.

A trip to Beverley for the Dartes Minster Meet on April 18th resulted in a number of medals and speeding tickets for our swimmers.

The biggest swimming event in the domestic calendar takes place between March 29th and April 3rd with places in the Delhi Commonwealth Games team up for grabs. COSSS has a number of swimmers taking part, come to the pool and give them a big cheer!.

The second weekend of the Yorkshire Age Groups was held at John Charles Pool in Leeds and Megan Hudson and Jenny Knowles led the way for COSSS as they became Yorkshire Champions in the 200m Breaststroke and 400m I.M.

Junior Development Squad will swim 21 Miles in memory of Keith Downing and to raise money for charity.
The first weekend of the Yorkshire Age Groups was held at Ponds Forge and COSSS picked up a large number of medals.

Rebecca Turner and Ellie Faulkner competed for Great Britain in the European Short Course Championships with Rebecca coming home with a Senior Yorkshire Record and an English Relay Record.
Some excellent swims delivered a long list of National Qualifying times plus a welcome return to form after injury for James Kirton.

A big contingent of swimmers travelled to Hull on October 4th for the Kingston Upon Hull Short Course meet.
Congratulations to Ellie Faulkner for her selection to the GB team to swim the FINA 10K Marathon next week. Ellie has also received the OCS Young Sports Person of the Year 2009 for the North East!
