We are South Yorkshire’s premier competitive swimming club and train at the prestigious Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield. Our programme is a partnership between Sheffield City Council and City of Sheffield Swim Squad. Our aim is to compete at the highest levels in the sport, and within our squads we have many International swimmers and National medallists. We also compete at district, county and regional levels, including various open meets through-out the year. We are an ASA Beacon Club and are regularly ranked in the top 10 clubs in Great Britain.

After the first weekend of the Yorkshire Championships, it was going to be tough to better the performance over the weekend of the 22rd and 23th of February at the John Charles Centre in Leeds. COSSS swimmers stepped up their performances to achieve more medals and finals places, despite some not swimming their favoured events.

The first weekend of the long course Yorkshire Championships took place over the weekend of the 15th and 16th February. Despite some of the squads still being hard training and some swimmers not competing in their main events, there were many fantastic performances over the two days, resulting in 11 COSSS Yorkshire Champions, 18 silver and bronze medallists and 46 other finalists.

Senior Elite swimmer, Lewis Coleman, and 99 other swimmers broke the world record for the 100X100m relay by over 7 minutes on Saturday 1st February, with Lewis swimming the final leg and touching in 1 hour 29 minutes and 3 seconds! The record breaking performance was the grande finale of an afternoon of events to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, go to swim4leukaemia.com for more information. A large contingent of COSSS swimmers were at Ponds Forge on Sunday 2nd February for the level 4 Sheffield and District ASA Championships. The meet is open to clubs affiliated to the Sheffield and District ASA across South Yorkshire. Although the predominance of COSSS swimmers were from JO3, JO2 and Junior Development squads, only the Senior Elite was not represented at some point during the day.

Five of COSSS Senior Elite squad were on international duty as part of a strong GB team at the Flanders Cup in Antwerp, Belgium. COSSS head coach Russ Barber was also one of the three lead GB coaches for the event.

COSSS swimmers from Senior Elite and AGN squads competed against swimmers from over 30 other clubs at the Northern Zonal Meet. The event took place at Ponds Forge over the weekend of the 25th/26th January and incorporates qualifiers from the North East and North West ASA Regions.

COSSS had a successful weekend at the Level 3 City of Leeds New Year Meet. A large contingent of swimmers from JO2, Junior Development and to a lesser extent JO1 and AGN, competed at this long course event.
