The A Team had reached the A final, which comprised the top 3 teams from the southern and northern sections. The assumption was that the winner and runner-up would go forward to represent the North East in the National A and B finals in 2012. Having beaten City of Leeds A in the 2nd round, expectations were high, and COSSS swimmers performed well again. City of Sunderland's strength in certain events meant that they took critical points from our swimmers, which resulted in COSSS achieving a very creditable 2nd place and probably a slot in the National B Final. However, because of the strength of performance this year of Leeds and Sheffield, both squads have been inviting to compete in the National Cup Final in April next year. A fantastic outcome after some great competition!
Expectations were also high for COSSS B in Harrogate on the Sunday evening. In the previous 2 rounds there had been little between City of Leeds B, Harrogate, Borough of Kirklees and COSSS B, and it proved to be the same again in the final round. For a large part of the evening, COSSS vied for the lead, but ended 4th after an exciting 2 hours of competition.
Well done to all who competed and again, a special mention should go to to those who travelled to the events to swim 1 or 2 relay legs – they are critical for the team's performance.
Individual times and relay splits for all swimmers are available on the club notice board.
